Singapore Telecommunications Purchases Quality of Service Solution From Tektronix
Net-C System Enables SingTel to Deploy Services for Internet, Wireless Networks

Tektronix, Inc. today announced that Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) purchased a centralized quality of service (QoS) system for mobile and core telecommunications networks.

SingTel is a leading communications group committed to providing the best of global communications -- voice and data services over fixed, wireless, and Internet platforms -- throughout Asia Pacific. The company is using Tektronix' NET-C system to monitor telephone system voice transmission quality throughout its network to meet the standards set by the International Telecommunications Union.

"With the explosive growth that is occurring in the telecommunications industry, our customers -- the network operators -- are constantly pressured with delivering and maintaining superior levels of network performance," said Scott Bausback, vice president, Communications Business Unit, Tektronix, Inc. "SingTel's selection of Tektronix' NET-C system illustrates our success, as a leader in communications test, measurement and monitoring equipment, to meet the needs of the telecommunications industry."

"By using the NET-C application, SingTel can identify problems with line noise, echo control, post-dialing delay, loss of quality resulting from over-compression, or improperly configured hardware," commented Choong Ying Pan, senior manager, international voice systems, SingTel. "The benefit of using the NET-C system for our In-service, Non-intrusive Monitoring Device testing is that it measures live traffic which accurately reflects what the customer is experiencing. SingTel counts this capability as an invaluable addition to our arsenal of QoS tools."

About NET-C

The NET-C monitoring system is an innovative new product that provides users with centralized control for assessing QoS and detecting fraud in real-time, mobile and fixed telecommunications networks. The product can be used by network operators to monitor and analyze the transmission quality of telephone systems. The NET-C system can also be used to detect fraud and network misuse, such as call back, blue box, refile, GSM roaming fraud and cloning.
