Tektronix, Inc. , a leading provider of network monitoring and fraud detection equipment for the telecommunications industry, today announced that max.mobil., one of Austria's leading mobile network operators, has placed a multi-million dollar order for a network monitoring system.
max.mobil. will deploy Tektronix' Net-7 monitoring system throughout its network, making it one of the largest network monitoring systems in Europe. max.mobil. will use the system to address applications ranging from call quality and fraud detection, to value-added services support. The system will also feed critical operational data to departments ranging from operations and maintenance to planning and optimization. max.mobil. expects to deploy the Net-7system network-wide and have it fully operational by the end of the year.
"With quality of service playing an increasingly important role in the intensely competitive mobile marketplace, customers like max.mobil. are finding many different monitoring requirements within their networks," said Scott Bausback, vice president, Communications Business Unit, Tektronix. "The Net-7system is an ideal fit for max.mobil.'s needs, enabling them to efficiently monitor their entire network in support of their quality, revenue generation and protection programs. Tektronix' strategy is to provide our telecommunications customers with solutions that not only meet their needs, but give them a competitive edge."
"As the fastest-growing mobile provider in Austria, we need monitoring solutions that allow us to sustain and steadily improve our Quality of Service in the face of tremendous capacity expansion," stated Walter Langer, responsible for Performance Management at max.mobil. "Tektronix' surpassed the other potential suppliers we looked at in terms of its contribution to our programs, and has the flexibility to grow with us as we add even more capacity and new technologies."
Network Monitoring System Addresses Many Applications
The Net-7 is a distributed system that gathers information from the signaling system seven (SS7) infrastructure that underpins every mobile network. It is easily expandable to keep pace with growing capacity requirements, and it will adapt readily to the needs of emerging third-generation (3G) mobile network technologies. Its built-in tools support network performance analysis, troubleshooting, billing verification, signaling accounting, fraud detection, and more.
max.mobil. is Austria's first private GSM mobile communications network. With about 2 million customers, and achieved sales of ATS 9.2 billion in 1999, with over 1,800 employees, max.mobil. is the most promising GSM network provider in Austria.
