Tektronix Announces Industry's First Measurement Solution for ITU-Specified Optical Communications Standard

Tektronix, Inc. , a leading provider of test, measurement and monitoring equipment for global communications networks, today announced a new optical module that is the industry's first solution to address the latest compliance requirements for eye pattern testing as specified under the ITU (International Telecommunications Union).

As the demand for telecommunications capacity grows, network equipment manufacturers are racing to capitalize on each new technology development that promises to increase network bandwidth. The new Tektronix® 80C04 optical module, a hardware plug-in for the Tektronix CSA8000 and TDS8000 oscilloscopes, will enable designers of optical network equipment and components to develop a new generation of OC-192/STM-64 compliant optical products that will provide greater optical network capacity.

The CSA8000 is part of the 8000 Series family of sampling oscilloscopes that includes the TDS8000, and a full complement of optical and electrical sampling modules. Together, these products replace Tektronix' 11801C and CSA803C sampling oscilloscopes. The 8000 Series provides comprehensive measurement capabilities with bandwidths of up to 28 GHz (optical) and up to 50 GHz (electrical).
