Vutrix Selects Tektronix to Verify 1080p High Definition Displays
HDLG7 HD Dual Link Video Generator Enables Full HD 1080p and RGB Assessment, a Critical Step for Advancing High Definition Video Displays

Tektronix, Inc. , a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that UK-based display manufacturer Vutrix has selected the recently introduced HDLG7 HD Dual Link Video Generator module for use with the Tektronix TG700 signal generator platform. The new module provides Vutrix with the vital ability to generate dual-link 4:2:2 1080p and 4:4:4 RGB display test signals to fully verify that the professional displays it manufactures meet true HD specifications in all existing formats. The ability to verify true 1080p HD is a critical step for advancing high definition displays.

"Our customers, including broadcasters, facilities houses, hire companies, and outside broadcasters have been crying out for full HD 1080p and RGB compliant displays," said Clive Charlton-Kay, Vutrix Managing Director. "Thanks to Tektronix, we will now be able to provide this critical capability. It is absolutely essential that we have the best reference equipment to ensure compliance. The ability to ensure the correct image parameters are met is essential for true HD, and Tektronix with its new HDLG7 module is the only company that can provide this ability."

Designed for video equipment manufacturers and production and post-production companies, the HDLG7 module provides a SMPTE 372M-compliant interface for dual-link HD SDI, with the ability to either generate a set of standard test signals or up-convert a single-link HD SDI input signal to a dual-link output format.

Unlike test signal generators that only have a fixed set of test signals available for a dual-link HD-SDI interface, the HDLG7 can also up-convert any arbitrary 1080 line single-link input video signal to a dual-link output signal, which improves test coverage by making any external test signal or video source available. The dual-link video converter can verify the dual-link interface between different pieces of equipment by generating either well-defined test signals or arbitrary video signals. In addition, the HDLG7 is designed to calibrate displays and recording equipment to standard test patterns.

"Manufacturers producing dual-link capable devices need to test the dual-link interfaces and certify designs and standards compliance. Production houses need dual-link signal generation technology to calibrate cameras, projectors and other dual-link capable devices in their facilities," said Winfried Schultz, EMEA Video Marketing Manager, Tektronix, Inc. "Vutrix gains a competitive advantage by utilizing the new HDLG7 module's testing capabilities to verify true 1080p HD."
