Tektronix, Inc. , a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced the new WFM 7120/7020/6120 video waveform monitors have won a 2007 STAR (Super Technology Award Recipient) Award. The award selection is determined by the editorial staff of TV Technology magazine based upon a review of new products at the NAB2007 convention.
In its eighth year, the STAR Award is designed to celebrate and showcase the preeminent technological innovations available to the broadcast industry. A panel of judges consisting of TV Technology editors and columnists reviewed a variety of products, examined the technical applications and their overall contribution to the industry, and then submitted their award nominees.
"Every year, the NAB show serves as the launching pad for thousands of new products and services for audio and video professionals," said Tom Butts, TV Technology Editor. "Our panel of editors walked the show floor in search of the most innovative technologies. The products and services that we selected for the STAR Award made the cut -- they demonstrated their ability to help advance the acquisition and distribution of entertainment and information across the media spectrum."
"We are honored to be the recipient of TV Technology's 2007 STAR Award," said Todd Biddle, Vice President, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "Our waveform monitors are part of a new generation of Tektronix video test and monitoring tools to help video engineers and technicians resolve challenging test and monitoring issues in today's new digital world."
The new Tektronix Waveform Monitors enable engineers supporting broadcast or post production facilities, or systems integrators to quickly detect, isolate, and diagnose video and audio quality problems. The WFM 7120/7020/6120 monitors expand on the features of the current generation of products. In announcing the award, TV Technology specifically cited the new Audio Sync Analysis capabilities.
The Tektronix AV Delay Measurement made by the WFM monitors is intended for out of service use as part of a normal installation or maintenance process. This option gives the installer or maintainer an added dimension of testing to ensure complete system integrity. The AV Delay Measurement uses the unique audio / video sequence produced by the TG700 HDVG7/DVG7 Modules. The sequence is readily recognizable by the WFM and used to determine any variance introduced by the system relative to AV timing.
Tektronix See and Solve™ capabilities are designed to provide information, not just data. In this case, the graphical display includes distinctive zero reference indicators on the WFM monitor. The A/V measurement indicator visually aligns with this reference indicator when the system under test has neither advanced nor delayed the audio component. The combined graphics and numeric readout accommodate a variety of needs for ease of use, speed and precision.
