Tektronix, Inc. , a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that Smoke & Mirrors, a highly regarded international facilities house, has selected Tektronix WVR7100 Series HD/SD rasterizers for use at its London operation to assure content quality across a range of formats and projects.
Smoke & Mirrors specializes in top end commercials, trailers and some features. It has recently announced an investment of 2.2m pounds Sterling, marking the first stage of a facility-wide upgrade and expansion for both its London and New York facilities. This complete re-engineering is a further acknowledgement of the growing amount of HD work and the need for enhanced capacity and speed. The company now offers a true HD, dual stream 4:4:4 environment, providing clients with a flexible, high-speed digital video environment.
"The WVR7100s provide us with total quality assurance for both HD and SD projects as we expand our facilities," said Mark Wildig, Chief Technology Officer, Smoke & Mirrors. "We run outgoing material through the rasterizers before anything leaves the building and we are totally reliant on them as we further grow our reputation for quality. We also use them to provide a thorough and accurate quality check on incoming material and while in progress with projects."
"For both video and audio checking, we have to operate within legal parameters and the WVR7100 Series rasterizers provide us with an absolutely confidence -- inspiring way of doing so. To put it simply, they are essential to our quality assurance," added Wildig. "Though Dolby E is only in its infancy, it is beginning to grow in importance and there is going to be an increasing requirement for us to work with this standard. The WVR7100 Series already provide us with that monitoring ability and this demonstrates a strong level of forward thinking from Tektronix. Tektronix is a very strong brand and we know when we buy the company's technology it will do exactly what is claimed."
"Smoke & Mirrors is a well established pioneer of new technology in the post production industry," said Eben Jenkins, Director, Video Test, Tektronix, Inc. "We are pleased that the firm continues to recognize the power and flexibility of Tektronix technology. The WVR7100, with its video and Dolby E and Dolby Digital capabilities, provides customers with advanced features that simplify instrument operation and configuration, making it easy to verify and manipulate data."
