Tektronix HDMI 1.3 Test Solution Selected by Dong Seoul College for Pre-Compliance Test Lab
Total Solution Available to Small & Medium Companies for HDMI 1.3 Compliance Testing

Tektronix, Inc. , a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, today announced that Dong Seoul College in Korea has selected the Tektronix HDMI 1.3 test solution for its HDMI Pre-Compliance Test Lab. Consisting of the Tektronix DPO70804 oscilloscope with TDSHT3 software, the DTG5334 data timing generator, the AWG7102 arbitrary waveform generator, and the DSA8200 digital serial analyzer sampling oscilloscope, the Tektronix test solution will provide the lab with advanced HDMI 1.3 source, sink and interface testing capability. Small- and medium-companies in Korea that need to develop products featuring the HDMI 1.3 interface can now leverage this lab for convenient access to industry-leading HDMI pre-compliance testing with reduced costs and faster validation processing.

Announced in 2006 by http://www.hdmi.org/, the HDMI 1.3 specification is the de facto digital interface for connecting consumer electronics devices. This is driving greater demand for comprehensive HDMI 1.3 compliance testing for new products. In Korea, one of the global centers of consumer electronics design and manufacturing, many small- and medium-sized companies require cost-effective HDMI 1.3 pre-compliance testing to verify their HDMI designs before sending their prototypes to HDMI LLC for final testing. With the Tektronix HDMI 1.3 compliance testing solution, Dong Seoul College is well positioned to help enable these companies identify and fix problems before final testing. This can dramatically reduce total product development cost and time-to-market since products no longer need to be shipped overseas for testing. Furthermore, Dong Seoul College will also provide support to help customers solve technical problems.

According to the faculty at Dong Seoul College Embedded Center, "Many Korean companies have been using Tektronix solutions for HDMI 1.1 and 1.2 compliance testing for their consumer electronics products. With minimal incremental investment, our lab has been upgraded from the Tektronix HDMI 1.1 to 1.3 compliance test solution that will provide these companies with a familiar test solution and improve their productivity through significant time and cost savings."

Tektronix is the leading instrument and solution provider for HDMI version 1.1 and 1.2 compliance testing. In September 2006, Tektronix announced its second generation test solution for integrated sink, source and cable tests using high-performance hardware and software for performing HDMI 1.3 compliance testing. Tektronix began shipping the complete HDMI 1.3b CTS test solution in June 2007.

"We are very proud to be associated with Dong Seoul College in providing HDMI 1.3 compliance testing to companies in Korea," said James Alderton, Marketing Director of Tektronix Asia Pacific Region. "Tektronix is committed to supporting the HDMI specification and recently hosted HDMI Design and Validation Forums in Seoul and in cities across Asia."

About HDMI

HDMI is the first and only consumer electronics industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. By delivering crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide consumers with the highest-quality home theater experience. HDMI provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television (DTV), over a single cable.
