Tektronix Communications, a leading worldwide provider of communications monitoring and test solutions, today announced enhancements for its GeoProbe platform to specifically address the cable MSO market.
Tektronix' proven GeoProbe solution will enhance MSO's capabilities in network and service level monitoring to address the increasing demands on cable networks to effectively manage performance and ensure Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS) in these complex networks.
"The enhancements to the GeoProbe solution are based on the specific network monitoring capabilities required by today's cable MSOs, a market which has been served by Tektronix for years with our Active Assurance test solution," said Mark Driedger, Vice President and General Manager, Network Management, Tektronix Communications. "As networks become more complex, and customer demand for triple-play services increases, cable MSOs are in an ideal position to leverage advanced network monitoring solutions to gain a competitive edge -- and GeoProbe provides the breadth to monitor next generation and legacy networks."
Tektronix Communications is focusing on the cable industry with the addition of Dynamic Quality of Service (DQoS) and Common Open Policy Service (COPS) protocol support for GeoProbe. With the COPS enhancement to GeoProbe, MSOs are able to quickly and effectively optimize the bandwidth of networks and provide the highest level of voice and broadband data quality to its customers -- ultimately increasing customer retention and loyalty.
Ensuring QoS and QoE in cable networks is becoming more important as MSOs must maintain their traditional high levels of video quality compared to competitive offerings while offering "five 9s" for broadband data and voice services. The evolution of cable operators to a multi-service environment makes providing differentiated quality of service to the end customer more important than ever.
As part of Tektronix' Unified Assurance suite of applications, GeoProbe products enable network engineers to proactively monitor, manage, diagnose, and troubleshoot the overall health of mobile, fixed, and multi-service networks -- all on the same platform. In addition, GeoProbe empowers engineering and planning departments to improve network capacity growth and traffic management decision-making.
"Tektronix Communications has demonstrated the capability to offer network monitoring tools with the proven scalability for fixed networks that exceed 20 million subscribers," said Driedger. "With these enhancements, we have the right tools to enable cable operators to successfully address QoE and QoS issues across the network quickly and effectively."
The GeoProbe product line is part of Tektronix' Unified Assurance suite of applications that provide network engineers the ability to monitor networks, services and customers for both legacy and IP transport networks all on the same platform. The GeoProbe product provides network engineers with the information needed to solve network and service problems across technologies, applications and element vendors. With GeoProbe products, network operations personnel can proactively monitor, manage, diagnose, and troubleshoot the overall health of mobile, fixed, and multi-service networks. In addition, GeoProbe empowers engineering and planning departments to improve network capacity growth and traffic management decision-making.
