BEAVERTON, Ore., April 27, 2011 – Tektronix, Inc., the world's leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, today announced the 2011 edition of its Power2Solve Seminar Tour in the US. The one-day seminars feature guided hands-on sessions covering such topics as troubleshooting serial and parallel buses in embedded systems, characterization of digital systems and power analysis. Building on the success of the 2010 tour, this year’s three city tour begins in Chicago on May 17, 2011 and continues to New Jersey and Boston (see below for complete schedule).
By attending one of the sessions, design engineers and educators will gain hands-on experience with the latest Tektronix mixed signal oscilloscope (MSO) for embedded system design and learn how to discover problems in seconds, capture events of interest the first time they occur, search entire records instantly, and analyze designs fast and efficiently. Attendees will be eligible to receive a certificate of completion.
“Designer engineers working on embedded systems are being asking to increase performance and complexity while decreasing power consumption,” said Gina Bonini, technical marketing manager, Embedded Systems, Tektronix. “Accomplishing these often conflicting goals requires mastery of the latest debug and analysis techniques. The feedback from last year’s Power2Solve was overwhelmingly positive and we’re pleased to be able to offer it again in 2011.”
Throughout the tour, Tektronix and partner experts will be sharing the latest techniques with session tracks and hands-on training focused on the following:
Introduction to Debug – The mixed signal oscilloscope will be used to pinpoint problems by analyzing both the analog and digital representations of signals.
Serial and Parallel Data Debug – This hands-on session will highlight different serial bus standards including I2C, SPI , and CAN, and use the oscilloscope to decode, capture and search specific messages, trace data flow and perform in depth analysis of an embedded system.
Measurement & Analysis Techniques – Modern digital oscilloscopes have built-in functions that make waveform measurements and are more accurate than is possible to obtain with direct visual interpretation. These tools include automated measurements, advanced math, and FFT analysis capability. In this session attendees will learn how to work more efficiently with test and measurement tools to analyze designs with accurate and repeatable results.
Characterization of Digital Systems & Power Analysis – Understanding an embedded system’s behavior across different operating conditions often requires system characterization and performing complex measurements such as jitter analysis or evaluating efficiency of a power supply. In this session you will learn how to use automated tools to simplify these complex analysis tasks including searching for and triggering on signal integrity anomalies, jitter and eye diagram validation, and analyzing switching loss for power analysis.
