Tektronix Communications Receives 2009 NGN Leadership Award from NGN Magazine

RICHARDSON, Texas, May 19, 2009 – Tektronix Communications, a leading worldwide provider of communications test and Network Intelligence solutions, announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) ( www.tmcnet.com) has named Tektronix’ Spectra2 NGN Core Test Solution and K2Air LTE Uu Monitoring Probe as recipients of the inaugural NGN Leadership Award presented by its publication, NGN ( www.ngnmag.com).

Spectra2, Tektronix Communications’ leading NGN (IMS/TISPAN) core test solution is an all-in-one test platform that thoroughly tests the protocols, media and elements of the NGN core for functionality, performance under load, and quality of service.  Its full array of automation features and intuitive user interface are designed to grow workforce productivity while simplifying the test process of increasingly complex network architecture. Spectra2’s test applications are integrated into a single, scalable industry-leading high capacity platform making it a cost effective NGN test solution for any size carrier or NEM . Spectra2 provides the capability for bracket testing of individual elements, testing inter-operability of elements, or testing end-to-end from the legacy PSTN and VOIP access networks through the NGN core. K2Air, a LTE Uu interface probe supporting lab test, live network troubleshooting and optimization for LTE networks, was integrated into Tektronix Communications’ Network and Service Analyzer (NSA) in February 2009. K2Air collects and provides deep-dive insight into the Uu interface and key eNodeB functionality no longer available on wireline interfaces. This probe is designed to integrate the existing protocol monitoring solutions to provide both wireless and wireline monitoring for comprehensive network coverage. It supports both uplink and downlink monitoring on the air interface in real-time and correlates this information with the data being passed on the fixed LTE interfaces. “With network equipment manufacturers and service providers increasingly looking to provide differentiated services over next-generation network infrastructure, the need for comprehensive monitoring and test solutions is key to delivering reliable services,” said Rich McBee, President, Tektronix Communications. “We are honored to be recognized for our dedication in providing our customers with the highest quality of monitoring and test solutions.”

The NGN Leadership Award has been established to recognize outstanding achievement in the IP Communications community, including outstanding products, services and technologies relating to IMS and NGN environments.

“Tektronix Communications has been recognized for their exceptional work in advancing IMS and NGN services and technologies, and we honor Spectra2 and K2Air with an NGN Leadership Award.  With the significant growth in next generation network technologies, receiving this award distinguishes them as a leader in the industry,” stated Rich Tehrani, president of TMC.

The 2009 NGN Leadership Award winners can be found in the May/June 2009 issue of NGN magazine ( www.ngnmag.com).
