University of Colorado Outfits Engineering Lab with 65 Units of Tektronix Equipment
DPO3000 Series Oscilloscopes Enable Engineering Students to Benefit from State-of-the-Art Tools Providing Career Ready Experience

BEAVERTON, Ore., February 9, 2009 - Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that the University of Colorado at Boulder has selected 65 units of the Tektronix DPO3000 Series oscilloscopes for its Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory (ITLL), a key element of the school’s Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITL).  The DPO3000 Series oscilloscopes will be used to complement over 60 lab stations that support hands-on test, measurement and design work of students across many undergraduate disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical, aerospace, and civil/environmental engineering.

"In the university environment we strive to provide our students with access to state-of-the-art real-world tools they’ll find once out in the workforce,” said a staff member for the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory at the University of Colorado. “The new DPO3000 is an ideal instrument for our student lab, offering ease of use, robust functionality, a great widescreen display, USB connectivity, and, most important, a great price point.”

The DPO3000 oscilloscopes have already brought key benefits to students with deeper record length on all channels enabling the capture of long time windows of signal activity with very high resolution, and easier connectivity via the front panel USB port enabling easier transfer of screenshots, setups and waveform data to a PC.

“Our Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory serves the entire campus with skill levels ranging from first time users to our senior technical engineering students and we’ve found the DPO3000 a perfect match to complement the full array of test and measurement equipment in our lab,” said the ITL staff member.

The ITL Program is a widely respected national model for interdisciplinary, hands-on learning supported by an innovative environment that allows students to integrate engineering theory with practice and learning by doing.  The technology-rich ITLL promotes engineering's human connections through open, interactive, interdisciplinary design and experimental spaces. The laboratory is essential to the ITL Program's undergraduate curriculum in which engineering students from all departments, beginning in their first year, can take design courses in which small teams develop products to solve real problems.

About the DPO3000 Series Oscilloscopes

The DPO3000 Series is the most capable professional oscilloscope in its segment of the market, at only 5.4 inches deep, it is also the shallowest -- requiring less bench space than competing products -- and weighs only nine pounds for enhanced portability.   The DPO3000 Series also provides exceptional value with Wave Inspector™ navigation and search controls to simplify finding events of interest, serial triggering and protocol decode, USB plug-and-play PC connectivity, a 9” WVGA display to show more detail in the horizontal axis to better see glitches and fine details that otherwise might be missed, and the smallest footprint in its class.
