BEAVERTON, Ore., September 9, 2008- Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, announced that customer demand for its new WFM4000 and WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR4000 and WVR5000 rasterizers has led to new sales records for Tektronix video products. Additionally, the company announced the new patent-pending TandemVu™ Display for the WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR5000 rasterizers. The new display provides broadcast operators with a more efficient and effective way to adjust and balance cameras in broadcast studios, outside broadcast (OB) vans or remote field locations.
With growing worldwide adoption of HD, customers desire affordable HD waveform monitoring products. The WFM4000 and WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR4000 and WVR5000 rasterizers offer efficient and effective monitoring of video and audio content, the best price / performance in the industry and leading ease of use. The units enable editors and operators to quickly and easily verify and adjust video and audio content from multiple signal sources. The 4000 Series supports standard definition (SD) video and the 5000 Series supports both SD and high definition (HD). Both new series offer the capabilities customers most need at an affordable price, and provide the high quality of Tektronix.
“We are extremely pleased with the market response to our new 4000 and 5000 Series rasterizers and portable waveform monitors,” said Arif Kareem, vice president and general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. “Customers have been telling us that they need Tektronix video and audio monitoring quality and capability in an affordable and portable package. Sales in the six months since introduction have proven this and far exceeded our expectation. This family has seen the fastest adoption of any of our waveform monitors and rasterizers over the comparable period.
WFM5000/WVR5000 with New TandemVu Display
The new TandemVu Display capability for the Tektronix WFM5000 waveform monitors and WVR5000 rasterizers provide the ability for waveform and vector displays and waveform and lightning displays to be overlaid and positioned flexibly in full screen mode. It also allows magnification of each trace individually based on specific user preferences. The resulting display is akin to having two tiles in full screen size overlaid plus a thumbnail picture display as required. The WFM5000/WVR5000 with TandemVu enables broadcast operators to personalise the screen display based on their individual application needs. For easy documentation, the personalized screen display can also be captured and stored in bitmap file format on a USB storage device.
Pricing and Availability
The new 4000 SD Series and 5000 SD/HD Series models are available for order. U.S. MSRP begins at $5,150 for the WVR4000 and range up to $6,900 for the WFM5000. The TandemVu Display is available as a software download, without charge to existing customers.
