BEAVERTON, Ore., June 12, 2006 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring solutions, announced that Transatlantic Video, one of the leaders of the French post-production industry has selected Tektronix WVR7100 SD/HD rasterizers to provide top quality for its international range of television, film, video, DVD and corporate clients.
Priding itself on using the most up-to-date technology and equipment, the Tektronix WVR7100 is in constant use in Transatlantic Video's HD/SD verification suite. For such mixed HD/SD environments, Tektronix provides the essential tools needed to check signal validity and content quality. These measurements are vital because the high bit rates of uncompressed HD video signals, in particular, require the most precise method of performance verification.
"We do an immense amount of verification and restoration and rely on the complete range of the WVR7100's capabilities to provide detailed analysis of a wide range of elements," said Jean-Christophe Coin, Technical Manager, Groupe Transatlantic. "Along with the extensive range of video monitoring tools, the addition of Dolby E and Dolby Digital audio monitoring makes the WVR7100 an even more attractive and cost-effective option. It has become the Swiss Army knife of video and audio monitoring."
Transatlantic Video is part of Groupe Transatlantic, which includes Centreville Television, Digital Postproduction, Medialab Technology and Sparx FX, each of which has also standardised on the Tektronix WVR7100.
The latest WVR7100 rasterizer enhancements include new Dolby audio monitoring capabilities (including Dolby E and Dolby Digital), and the powerful FlexVu™ display, which can be configured to display - in four individual tiles - any combination of the waveform, vector, gamut, picture, audio, timing, status, and alarms displays. The new audio capabilities reduce the time and effort needed to assess the quality of multi-channel audio content and to diagnose multi-channel audio amplitude or phase problems.
"The fact that the WVR7100 fits in only one rack unit, and is so quiet because the remote front panel has no fans, are significant bonuses," adds Coin. "We have been so pleased with the results achieved with our initial WVR7100 that we've bought two more."
"As the transition to digital television becomes more prevalent, the need for a cost effective and easy-to-use monitoring solution that ensures the production and broadcast of quality audio and video content is increasingly important," said Todd Biddle, Vice President, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "We are pleased that Transatlantic Video has chosen Tektronix WVR7100's for the extensive international range of SD/HD material the company processes, which is evidence of the quality of service they provide."
About the WVR7100
The WVR7100 provides customers in the multi-format environments - composite, SD, and HD video and/or analog, digital, Dolby Digital (AC-3), and Dolby E audio - with a cost effective and easy-to-use monitoring tool that enables them to ensure production and broadcast of quality content that adheres to legal broadcast specifications. With the WVR7100's powerful FlexVu™ display, customers can uniquely configure their instrument to display in four different tiles any of the Waveform, Vector, Gamut, Picture, Timing, Status, and Alarms displays. With the audio option, the instrument can also display Audio Level Bars, Lissajous, Surround Sound, and Dolby Audio Metadata (Dolby Digital/Dolby E option only) displays. These audio features help to reduce the time and effort needed to assess the quality of multi-channel audio content and to diagnose multi-channel audio amplitude or phase problems. The two physical layer measurement options add the capabilities to simultaneously monitor Timing Jitter and Alignment Jitter as well as source signal level, cable loss, and approximate cable length. These two options also add the capabilities to display multiple Eye patterns (Option PHY or Option EYE) and Jitter waveforms (Option PHY) with two different high-pass filters for easy isolation of Jitter components. The WVR7100 is the only HD Rasterizer with the de facto industry standard, Tektronix-patented, Gamut displays (Diamond, Split Diamond and Arrowhead) that ensure that the broadcast material meets gamut compliance in the component and composite color spaces.
